Meet The Teacher!

Introduction

Hi! My name is Anastasia McGrath, and I am so excited to be your student’s teacher this year.  I have been looking forward to this moment for 4 years.  I am from Knoxville, TN.  I am the oldest of 6 kids and love eating lavender-honey ice cream with my family.  I spent the last four years here in Tampa studying Elementary Education (K-6) and Spanish at the University of Tampa.  I also spent a semester studying and practicing my Spanish fluency at the Centro Norteamericano de Estudios Interculturales in Seville, Spain. I love traveling, art, languages, and food.  Each of my days is fueled by green tea and the unique energy of your children.   Let’s make this year memorable!

My Education Philosophy

Humans are more likely to be open to learning if they feel safe and are treated kindly. Moreover, small humans, who are learning independence, need security to grow. The classroom will make students feel at peace. My students will be given the brain space and stimulation to be creative, the comfort to take risks, and the inspiration to be kind. We will incorporate and learn from cultural differences before students have a chance feel discrimination or division. We will be many people from many backgrounds united in one classroom. The basis of safety and security in my classroom will encourage my students to be creative in their learning and kind in their thoughts, words, and actions. With this deep-rooted base, children can be open to learning and can acquire knowledge. The implemented safety and security will allow children to learn more quickly and effectively in my classroom.
